Garret Bean

Head of Digital Infrastructure

Garret has been working through complex development challenges for the largest renewable energy projects in the United States for over 15 years, being responsible for project and site development assets from inception through execution, working with teams in development, interconnection, real estate, permitting, engineering and construction, and assisting in M&A due diligence. His background and experience has led to the successful development, construction, and operation of over 150 projects including development of over 12 GW of solar, wind and hydroelectric facilities' pipeline and development of over 3 GW of renewables which are now in operation. Before joining Copia, Garret was the Managing Director of Development at Birch Infrastructure, PBLLC., responsible for strategic project siting and development to support data center, infrastructure, and renewable energy enterprises. Earlier, Garret worked for over nine years as Vice President of Development for sPower, guiding all aspects of land development, entitlement, and environmental permitting. Developing over 10,000 MW of solar, wind and hydroelectric facilities on over 150,000 acres throughout the United States. He began his career at Tetra Tech as a fluvial geomorphologist and geoscientist.  

Garret holds a Master of Science in Geological Sciences and Fluvial Geomorphology from University of California, Santa Barbara. 

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Geological Sciences with and emphasis in Engineer Geology from University of California, Santa Barbara.
